A Woodwork Plan is Necessary for ANY Woodworking Project!
A Woodwork Plan Had Made My Project so Much Easier!
If you are considering a woodworking project, I cannot stress to you enough how much a woodwork plan is necessary to do it well. Now this is not a knock against you and your skills rather a piece of advice from someone who “thought” I knew what I was doing!
I have always enjoyed carpentry, but I was never really good at it. Carpentry is a learned skill - not something that you’re just born with. We must be taught how to be good carpenters. Unfortunately, most of us do not have an expert carpenter at our disposal to show us everything!
Last summer, I decided to try and build a very small deck in my backyard off of my backdoor. I had everything figured out from my dimensions and concrete to my materials and time line. Everything was going good until…
I STARTED IT! Had I only thought about getting a woodwork plan!
The problem was that was completely over-matched for this project, but I was just too blind to see it. I spent weeks working on this deck only to do it all wrong. So I spent may eighty hours on it and around $700 for material just for the darn thing to never pan out. It was at this time that I realized that I needed a woodwork guide to help me through my deck.
I spent a few hours looking around on the internet for something that would help me and my disaster of a deck. I found a couple of different plans that would help me with “general ideas”, but not my specific deck.
Luckily I found a woodworking plan that not only would help me with my deck, but also with another 14,000 projects that I want to start working on! I just can’t stress to you enough how much I needed that woodwork plan before I started my stupid deck. It would have helped me so much yet I was just too blind to see it.
Please do not underestimate the power of having a woodwork plan before you start your next project!
